Fractured

I painted this on Friday night when my mood was mixed up. I hadn't felt myself all day and not even making art was soothing. She was supposed to be a beautiful Goddess that would calm my spirits, but my Muse was full of angst. She wanted savagery and blood. She didn't quite get that, but this fractured piece is not exactly my normal style.

I'm at peace with this though. She is an accurate reflect of the my turmoiled mind and I rather like that my art can express my mood.

In case you missed yesterday's post - I am feeling MUCH BETTER! I filled my 'creative well' and made some new friends - some of whom I'd already got to know through cyberspace, but how wonderful to actually meet and chat!

So, this is a fretful Friday sketch posted on a somewhat soothed Sunday for Sunday Sketches. Come over to Sophia's and see what everyone is up to.

  3. I really like this. It is full of energy. I find that some of the best stuff is done when emotionally charged. It adds a great dimension to a work.

  4. I like it too, I agree. It's full of the energy that you felt that day...that's what makes art so fantastic. I love seeing the mood in a piece. great title for her, too!

  5. Lisa, I know the feeling! It is so great that you can express yourself thru your pen. I can feel the emotion here and that is what art is all about...at least to me. It is the journey it takes us on for however brief or long that may be. Hope your Sunday is going well...sometimes it is nice to have the rain about..has a calming effect on me :) (as long as it does not go on for weeks on end ;)

Loved having your comments come my way these past few weeks :)

    Best wishes..

  6. This piece really speaks to your emotions and it is wonderful, Art does not always have to be "happy", art should speak to us and this definitely does. Well done.

  7. Hi Lisa...yay..i am glad you feel better , I'll have to read you other post I missed..hugs!! I think she is be quite beautiful and energiziing and healing.....i see the "symbolic dark and turmoil" you describe in this art ...as healing...and can have powerful- beautiful-transformative gifts as you were creating it.....perhaps like an angel of dark..she has helped you pass through the veil you were shifting through..and guiding you back to the light of yourself...I'd say she is a pretty powerful healer!!
    HUgs..beautiful!

  12. I love love LOVE this piece. just the bleeding watercolor, the color scheming, and your sketchy style. It seems very transformative. Although there is a hint of angst.. it seems she has moved through it!

  13. You know, not every piece of art we produce has to be some "beautiful" finalized product. Art is for us to create how we feel, even when we have bad days or don't feel like ourselves. I think this accurately fits your mood and STILL came out amazing. I love the feeling evoked from this piece. Thank you for being so real in your art and with us.

    Hugs!! Happy SS

  15. Hi Lisa,

This piece is soooo full of emotion - I think that is an artistic triumph, when the viewer can FEEL the emotion the artist was feeling when she created the piece. I love the title of this piece too.
So glad to hear you are feeling much better and wishing you a wonderful, peaceful, creative week to come!

  16. I love how art has the ability to express how we truely are emotionally. This another gorgeous painting!:) I really admire the amount of your art output. I'm looking forward to grabbing some paint stuff next pay cheque to try painting again. I find it much more emotionally freer than drawing.

  17. This is one of the things that art is about - that it refelcts ourselves, our feelings, our mood. So visible here - and I like it.

  24. and to think that one must get into a mixed up mood to create wonderful art like this, it's a sacrifice I know! ;0}

I love the back ground too!

  26. She's wonderful, expressive, striking piece of beauty... To me all of my art expresses where I am at emotionally.... or fills that something I am reaching for, peaceful, angst, etc. And it is the best pieces that show the depth of those emotions.

  27. I too have come through my burnout. Us creative overachievers recover quickly don't we:P I've gone back to my roots and starte doing the fun mixed media pieces that orginally started me on the whole artistic journey

  31. Passionate, expressive...I love it. Good things came out of a mixed up mood. But hope you feel calmer for your own sake soon. I was reading a couple of posts back about you feeling a little burnt out & hard on yourself. Many of us get like this and it is probably a sign that we should rest, nourish & pamper ourselves doing things that make us feel good.
    Take care

  33. That is what it's all about, girl! I love this piece, I love what it meant for you...some time of soothing therapy..time to just let loose and get it all out on paper!

the results are terrific! there is so much emotion and movement in your lines...you can just feel the tension come off the page! and that, again, is what it's all about !!!!!

it is in our artistic nature to have this need of expression...
    congratulations on your small victory!

    ciao bella
