Poor Queen. She does look sad doesn't she? Like the painting though, she has many layers. I wonder what it would take to crack that icy exterior?
Back at work this week (and suffering with a cold), I haven't had much time to exercise the paintbrushes so last night felt great to create again. I'm hosting the challenge at Inspiration Avenue - an Icy theme. Is she cold enough for you?
It's Friday -- yay! That means Paint Party Friday too. I'm off over there now to browse the galleries and warm up a little!
Mixed media portrait. Layers of brayered paint, stamping, charcoal, acrylics, pencil and more stamping - I rather loved the frosty filigree that made up her dress.

ReplyDeleteOh wonderful painting! Your concept brings to mind a cartoon I love called Avatar the Last Airbender where at the end the bad guy Zuco turns good as he kinda cracks open his hurts and changes his ways. Also the main character Aang begins the show trapped in ice! Excellent! Deb

ReplyDeleteHey lisa, I don't know how I missed your other piece 'sunkissed' but I did. I love the contrast between the two. This weeks ice Queen is beautiful. She reminds me of the Queen from the Lion the witch and the wardrobe. I love that blue! 'Sunkissed' had a beautiful warmth to it, I think these would look great side by side!!! Lovely work! HOpe you are feeling better. I was smothered with a cold this week too and I didn't feel like doing very much. Hope you feel better soon!
