Not sure where I'm going

Really wasn't quite sure where I was going with this little baby. I made the initial sketch earlier in the week with the intention of working it up into some kind of bigger painting but intentions and actual 'happenings' have been slim on the ground this week. The day after I finished my antiobiotics and got rid of the chest infection, I began to come down with another cold which kept me in bed most of yesterday. Add to that the fact that my art studio (aka dining area of the lounge) has been out of action for two weeks while it pays host to half the kitchen, and we have little room or inclination for play!

The reason half my kitchen is sitting in another room is yet another story! I'm waiting for my new flooring to be laid. It did arrive nearly two weeks ago, hence the removal of unfixed furniture, but some mix up meant it was the wrong size... We'd already ripped up the old floor which left a sticky residue underfoot that is now covered with dust, crumbs and cat hair. They promise Tuesday...please!! In the meantime, we continue with disorganised chaos and sticky feet...

Back to the art. So, we had a pencil sketch. I splashed a bit of paint on it, then stuck it in PhotoShop et voila! Original page in sketchbook below.

A Sunday Sketch. Pop along to Blue Chair Diary and view some more. I just realised it also rather fits Illustration's Friday's Cultivate theme too.

  1. She looks sad. :( Must be emotions coming through from having to deal with not feeling well and not having the space to be creative in right now. The colors are really warm and inviting. I think you did a great job with everything you are dealing with.

Hope you feel better soon and your kitchen gets finished so you have your creative space back.

  10. Sorry to hear you are having a tough time breaking up with the poorlies! No fun being sick and I hope you are on the mend soon.

I love the original sketch and the faint glimmer of the female figure underneath the sunflower head. It is a neat image and I love how you boosted the color in PS but maintained the raw, natural line art.

  12. Darnit Lisa! This cold - sickness feeling is holding on way too long! I am so sorry to hear you are still under the weather!
I agree, this piece is full of emotion, and I get some sadness from her too, but she is very vibrant and beautiful at the same time!
We still need to chat, I was also under the weather this week, and will be gone on a mini-break next week with my sweetie, so lets try to skype or just phone chat after I get back! Would really love it!

Boy can I relate to the flooring dilema!!!! We just had ours replaced and it took over a month for the whole process to be 'complete' - and they still need to come and clean up some glue spots! It was so hectic having no floor for so long!

Warm and healing hugs and smiles sent your way! Wish I could pop over and bring you some soup and tea and just chat for a bit.

    Take care!

  19. I think your sunflower face is showing some of your withdrawing due to health and kitchen chaos. We did that last year - a job that was supposed to be completed in 5-7 days - the guy took 6 weeks - my stove and frig were in the garage... ugh. Deep eyes full of why??? energy emerging is what I see!
    cheers, dana

  34. This sunflower is so cheery & cute. I love the effects that the photoshop created. It gives it a look of oils & oil pastels I think.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Its been a long old run of illness for you. Hopefully it will all be over & you'll be healthily enjoying the spring sunshine very soon.
