I can't believe that a whole week has gone by so quickly. I missed my usual Friday party hangout last week owing to being a gadabout gal in Madrid (well... you know... someone has to go!). And now, here we are again looking at the backside of another week.
I am a little torn tonight. My fingers are itching to wax lyrical about all I learned today at the Be the Brand event in London, but the link up between brain and fingers has gone on strike in protest at forced labour (it just wants to sleep... or watch trashy TV).
It's taken me an age just to type this, so perhaps I'll listen to my body for once and just post up this picture for the party and then slip off. I'm not sure I even have the energy to describe it in my usual 'flowery' detail (still managing to squeeze out the dodgy puns though!). Painted this about two weeks ago, but only just getting around to posting. Enlarge - if you want to read something into the petals!
Mixed media - acrylics, collaged book pages, crackle medium - all painted over the top of an old painting I'd got bored of.

Good way to use an old un-loved canvas.

A wonderful transformation and the knowledge of the mystery beneath the new look is cool too! POP ART MINIS
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, LOVE the colors!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to paint over an old painting! I've just discovered it. Something about it makes me feel great. If it has lots of texture, even better. Paintings I don't care for make me twitchy and itchy, and covering them up is just plain satisfying!
I know the feeling when you want to say something, yet it takes an age to even write a sentence - looking forward to hearing about Be the Brand - sounds interesting. Seems like you have had a busy time - I sense a bit of exhaustion lurking around the edges - take it easy this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove your flower artwork, the color just intense and amazing. And yes, great minds think alike - we both made a single flower artwork. Woohoo! :)
ReplyDeletetell us more about Madrid- our life of jetsetting came to an end when we got the dogs so I need to city break vicariously through folk like yourself! this flower is gorgeous and in colours i've come to think of as you! I love how the petals are old book pages!
ReplyDeleteEven when you are tired you are funny and a joy to read. Smashing colours and loving the petals. Happy PPF, x
ReplyDeletelove the colors!!! thanks for sharing and happy PPF!!
ReplyDeleteI definetly want to hear what you've learned. So rest up your fingers and brain. :) Love the flower, btw. The text peaking through looks great.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely painting, go slow for a bit and catch your breath again! Valerie
ReplyDeleteLove the flower painting. Background is textured and wonderful and the contrast to flower is amazing. Some of the Madrid fever is showing up in your art already. I can't wait to see more. Hope you got to see Flamenco dancing while you were there. That will give anyone a jump start on adrenilin!
ReplyDeleteLove the detail of the type peeking through the petals. Nice. I spent 2 weeks in August in Paris. When I got back, I took the rest of the month off from blogging too!!!! It's exhausting traveling like that. Get rest.:)

ReplyDeleteSweet dreams....
This is gorgeous! I love your background too, wonderful color combo! Deb
ReplyDeleteMmm, beautiful colors. I hope you don't get tired of this one anytime soon! :)
ReplyDeletethose flower petals are so great. I still find depth and shadow elusive - I've tried some flowers like this and they look so flat. your petals curve up and away from the center like they should. I'm studying and learning :) Love the way hints of that pink paint show up throughout the background (the tiniest touch on top of the hearts - lovely!)
ReplyDeleteI am loving the texture and the pop of color in the flower. Great job! I hope you got some rest. :) Have a beautiful week.
ReplyDeleteLove your painting!! Rest a bit and then do tell....
ReplyDeleteOh Lisa! I love your flower, I really want to get back into working with book pages again; I really miss it! Sorry I'm so very late getting by, it's been a crazy time around here!
