Here's one I prepared earlier...

I can't believe that a whole week has gone by so quickly. I missed my usual Friday party hangout last week owing to being a gadabout gal in Madrid (well... you know... someone has to go!). And now, here we are again looking at the backside of another week.

I am a little torn tonight. My fingers are itching to wax lyrical about all I learned today at the Be the Brand event in London, but the link up between brain and fingers has gone on strike in protest at forced labour (it just wants to sleep... or watch trashy TV).

It's taken me an age just to type this, so perhaps I'll listen to my body for once and just post up this picture for the party and then slip off. I'm not sure I even have the energy to describe it in my usual 'flowery' detail (still managing to squeeze out the dodgy puns though!). Painted this about two weeks ago, but only just getting around to posting. Enlarge - if you want to read something into the petals!

Mixed media - acrylics, collaged book pages, crackle medium - all painted over the top of an old painting I'd got bored of.

  4. This is gorgeous, LOVE the colors!

Isn't it fun to paint over an old painting! I've just discovered it. Something about it makes me feel great. If it has lots of texture, even better. Paintings I don't care for make me twitchy and itchy, and covering them up is just plain satisfying!

  5. I know the feeling when you want to say something, yet it takes an age to even write a sentence - looking forward to hearing about Be the Brand - sounds interesting. Seems like you have had a busy time - I sense a bit of exhaustion lurking around the edges - take it easy this weekend.

  12. Love the flower painting. Background is textured and wonderful and the contrast to flower is amazing. Some of the Madrid fever is showing up in your art already. I can't wait to see more. Hope you got to see Flamenco dancing while you were there. That will give anyone a jump start on adrenilin!

  13. Love the detail of the type peeking through the petals. Nice. I spent 2 weeks in August in Paris. When I got back, I took the rest of the month off from blogging too!!!! It's exhausting traveling like that. Get rest.:)

  38. those flower petals are so great. I still find depth and shadow elusive - I've tried some flowers like this and they look so flat. your petals curve up and away from the center like they should. I'm studying and learning :) Love the way hints of that pink paint show up throughout the background (the tiniest touch on top of the hearts - lovely!)
