She was afraid of letting herself go...
He was afraid she'd got entirely the wrong end of the stick when he'd given her that rose... and why was she looking at diamonds in jewellery shop windows?
He was afraid... very afraid...
A bit of fun for Inspiration Avenue's Fear challenge. I was playing with collage after seeing what Sharon Tomlinson had been up to on Katie Kendrik's course. It was supposed to be a piece of wild passion and romance, but the Muse was feeling cynical and down to earth. She decided a fear of commitment might be more grounding (and it did rather fit the theme - subliminal influencing going on there I suspect!).
It's painted over collage followed by more digital layering.
I was never really afraid of commitment when I was younger. This may have been a personality defect on my part as I ended up getting divorced. However, seeing as I got my son from this error of judgement it's not a decision I would ever have changed!

Collage is just great but I never dare paint over it just like me not daring to commit myself but I did in the end and that will be the same with my collage I hope!

What a great entry for this challenge! None so brave as those who rush in where angels fear to tread!! I have been told that often and many a time, but then dancing in the flames is such fun!!:D
ReplyDeleteI love this take on fear... I think anyone who is creative is into commitment big time... every time we pick up a brush or pen we are committing to an idea and thought... doesn't always translate as well in real life though great post as always. I look forward to my visits with you xx
ReplyDeleteGotta love your take on fear. Commitment is something we can't take lightly, but so many do these days. Of course, it makes for good stories, melodrama, and art.
ReplyDeleteWhat a telling collage! This is a great take on the theme and one I hadn't even thought about. I've met a lot of non-committal males in my life which might be why I married so late and had my daughter so late in life, but I don't think I want it any other way.
ReplyDeletePretty piece, like the concept and the layering.
ReplyDeleteYou are always so creative with your word play and cerebral defining of subjects......it turned out really cool!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Artwork.
ReplyDeleteAnd the story...so true. However I was usually in Steve's position...nothing easy about that either.♥♥♥
What a beautiful piece! I think there is always "Fear" in trying to hold onto something that we love so much. The "Fear"of letting go is so powerful.
ReplyDeleteGreat art Lisa. She looks as though she finally let go. A very scary thing to do.
