Verification

So, Blogger has changed its word verification again. Instead of having two blurry words to decifer, now we just get one plus a photo of somebody's house number.

This has me seriously perplexed. Did Blogger have to send out one of their Googlers with a camera to wander the streets snapping randomly? Were they instructed to shake the camera slightly each time? Have they captured any famous doorways?

Are spammers not then capable of reading house numbers? Given the amount of junk mail I receive, I beg to differ...

  3. that is rather bizarre - I have word verification with a vengeance, not least because I usually fail it and ranted on my blog a while back.

  4. Sensitive one for me too Lisa. I don't see the sense of it all, especially when we can turn it off and control by comment moderation. You are right...who takes these photos and why? The mind boggles...

  5. I turned my word verification months ago to make it easier for those that visit my blog. I have not had any problems with Spammers.

  7. Yep, the mind boggles.... I hate word verification and this latest 'house number' one is no different to the rest. Some of the house numbers are SO tiny and indecipherable, I have to keep hitting 'refresh' until I get a larger number. I'm thinking of joining many other bloggers out there who are now refusing to leave comments on blogs that use word verification. I've never had word verification on my blog as a service to my readers.

  8. House numbers, really? Too funny! At least the Word Capcha is gone- I got to where I wouldn't leave comments on blogs that used it, just too much of a hassle!

  9. Well they are definitely photographed abroad because I don't recognise the street names :) I wonder where? Not the Uk nor holland either, it might look like double Dutch but I can guarantee you it is not!!! Manonx
