Hair-raising

Hair-raising

I'm not too sure where I'm going with either of these pieces, they are just finding their own way.

They both began with pieces torn from magazines.

The hair-raising lady had her missing body parts drawn back in with a liberal dose of colour and imagination. She feels almost finished, though part of my sees a pencil sketch of something appearing through the blue background... What it might be is still floating around my right brain somewhere...

The second piece is sharing a story of a tender heart exposed, laid bare. I should point out that the 'Chinese' calligraphy is purely a product of my imagination - should it actually spell anything I would love to know! Imagine... my subconscious may be able to communicate in other languages... what a marvel that would be!

I may continue with these today or just leave until their stories more fully reveal themselves to me.

Sharing today with Paint Party Friday.

An open heart

  1. ooh I can see something else as well in the first painting............enjoy your adventure. Have enough trouble understanding english so am no use whatsoever for Chinese but look forward to seeing how you finish them both. Happy PPF, Annette x

  3. Oh, I love these. What a great idea to start with a magazine face and then just let the rest come from you. Beautiful.

  4. What a great spark to start your art. These are fabulous! I would have completely believed that the Chinese writing was "real"- it adds such a great touch!

  5. Nice work, love the calligraphy. The 'little boxes' you saw on my blog are floating leaves, some people can't see them for some reason - nothing to worry about! Have a good weekend, Valerie

  6. Both paintings are so beautifully done, Lisa. I adore the woman with the hair raising effect. The calligraphic Chinese looks good to me. Hope it doesn't say something naughty. LOL! BTW, the floating boxes in Valerie's post were falling leaves. Someone else mentioned boxes saying 403 forbidden, so I think you weren't the only one not to see the leaves.

  11. Well, I can't wait to see what might be hovering in the back of the first one.

Wouldn't it be funny if your Chinese characters actually spelled something like "shrimp wonton" or "no parking" or "Spitting is a punishable offense"?

  13. I made the mistake once of asking Phantom to give me some Japanese characters for a piece of work... lucky I checked as they were rather naughty... still used them of course, but at least I knew what they said... love the top one... that is scarily what my hair is looking like this morning...xx

  16. I love both of them, but particularly the first one - like Ophelia floating in the water, her hair spread out on the surface about her. I too like it the way it is .... but then, I don't know how much more I will like it when it is finished.

  24. I love your imaginative Chinese characters. Actually, the one on the right side - in the bottom left corner of the white-pink flower - could mean "peace" - it's VERY close!
