In need of some repair

Early stages for this piece. It's going to be a 'proper' painting - rather than one of my recent series of quick concoctions - I'm even using real drawing paper! Just laying down the first layer of colour and shade. It's from a stunning portrait and reflection of Audrey Tatou in the latest Chanel No 5 advert.

Funny how she sat so comfortably on the page last night but then this morning her eyes are too big and slightly out of place, and the mouth in her reflection is terribly wonky! (That'll be the wine I suppose, plus drawing while having half an eye on the X-Factor didn't help!). Thank goodness for the forgiving properties of acrylics which are going on next!

I'm going to let the Muse dictate where she goes (though dressed as she is, I suspect it may be to a party!).

I've been feeling the need for a little external self-repair too. Lately I just seem to busy to pay much attention to myself, so the last few days have attempted to redress the balance. Hair styling, a glamorous make-over at a Mary Kay party (including some special treat purchases) and a bit of pampering are definitely in order. Special thanks to my friend Tina for managing to organise this as precisely the moment it was needed!

Well, I'm off to get dressed now and play with my new make up.

  1. I wouldn't mind some pampering myself. :) You don't need acrylics just some more wine and the painting will look just fine again. :)

  5. Holy Crap Lisa!
I have been hoosming through your blog...catching up on all I have missed.
    Mara is incredible!!!
    And your harlequin pieces...wow!
I can totally relate to taking on more than I think I can do...I am forever kicking myself for the strress I add to my own life. But in the end it almost always works out and I pat myself on the back.
If anyone needs a make-over it has to be me. I am beginning to look homeless.

  14. It's a great idea to start with drawing paper, it motivates you to lead yourself to do better. Your muse is going into a great direction, so far all the details are being revealed. Do all you can to always polish your talent :)

  16. love where this is going and so relieved that I'm not the only one who thinks their work is great with wine goggles on only to find it not quite as satisfactory in the cold hard state of the morning.... quick question what sort of wine induced the naked George Clooney dream... need to pop out and buy me some of that!!!

  24. I see lots of promise in her! I think she will be a stunning "proper" painting. I thought all paintings were proper; I'm wondering if that's what's wrong with some of mine. lol. Off to ponder.

Oh, you must be watching the British version of the X-Factor while I am watching the US version. On different nights though. I'm hooked. I like it even better than Idol. I admit I am a reality show junkie. Is that pathetic?
